Sponsored by the County of San Diego and Chase Airport Management, Inc., 24th annual Ramona Air Fair & Fly-In aims to immerse the community in the world of aviation.
The Ramona Air Fair & Fly-In takes place Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Ramona Airport, 2926 Montecito Rd.
Free hot air balloon rides will be offered, and Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 14 will offer free rides to children and teens between the ages of 8 and 17 years, on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Ramona Air Fair will also feature meet and greets with special guests Red Eagles Formation Team, Ramona Rattlers, March Aero Club, and Air Group One.
Flight demonstrations, tours of the control tower and music by Whiskey Ridge are just some of the activities lined up for the day. Food will be offered through a variety of food trucks, and a beer garden will be available for adults.
There will also be kids activities, and a special celebration to commemorate Smokey Bear’s 75th anniversary.
Chip Lancaster, docent for Classic Rotors, invites the community to see their collection of rare and vintage rotorcraft during the event.
“We always have new and exciting things on display,” says Lancaster, who adds that the museum is only one of two of it’s kind in the United States.
Lancaster says that the museum is regularly open Friday, Saturday and Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information on the museum, visit rotors.org.
Pilots are invited to fly in for the day and join the fun. The airport and facilities will remain open for the duration of the event.
Admission and parking are free. Information can be found at www.SDCountyAirports.com.
