Ramona Junior Fair

  • 431 Aqua Lane Ramona, CA, 92065 United States (map)

This summer brings the much-anticipated 47th annual Ramona Junior Fair. This year’s theme is “Barn Wars: May the Farm Be With You,” and participants and guests are sure to have a great time.

The Ramona Junior Fair BBQ, Pie Auction and Tractor Show are scheduled for July 14. The antique tractor and truck show kicks off at 3 p.m., followed by the barbecue at 4 p.m. and pie auction at 6 p.m.

“The pie auction is our biggest annual fundraiser that the community really gets behind, with over 80 homemade desserts up for auction,” says Stacey Nelson, Ramona Junior Fair Board Vice President.

The Junior Fair will run from July 28 to Aug. 5, at the Ramona Junior Fairgrounds, 431 Aqua Lane.

The livestock auction will take place Aug. 4 at 12 p.m. Nelson recommends arriving early if you are interested in buying an animal.

A buyers’ dinner will take place after the livestock auction, as well as an after-auction event beginning at 6 p.m., offering donated items such as gift certificates, animal-care products,
artwork, home decor, quilts and more.

Ramona Junior Fair is open to any child between age 5 and 18 who is in 4-H, FFA or Grange in San Diego County. The market classes are open to kids in North County.

Youngsters can start with small animals such as rabbits, chickens, guinea pigs, dogs, small goats or any of the home economics classes.

Local Ramona clubs include Ramona Stars, Ramona Paisanos, Ramona Wranglers 4-H Club and Ramona FFA.

“Ramona FFA and Poway FFA are very involved,” says Nelson. She adds that that the Ramona Junior Fair Board is all volunteer-run, and a lot of the fair is run by the kids themselves.

“They all work together so hard, and they completely support each other with a lot of camaraderie,” says Nelson.

Nelson encourages the community to come out and support the kids throughout the fair and at the auction. Visit www.ramonajuniorfair.com.
