Exhilarating Equine Experiences
There’s more than one way to tour Ramona, and one of the most popular is on horseback. With beautiful terrain and an abundance of trails, Ramona is a rider’s paradise — perfect for all skill levels.
For those traveling into town with their own horses, there are a variety of resources at hand to help you find the amazing trails in the area.
San Diego Country Estates offers two riding facilities with amenities, as well as access to various trails. For English riders, contact the International Equestrian Center, and for Western, the Casey Tibbs Western Center. Both locations may be used for a fee.
Visit sdcea.net for information.
Many other trails in the area are managed by the San Diego County Parks and Recreation department, the Bureau of Land Management and Ramona Trails Association. Information about these trails may be found on the Ramona Trails Association’s website at ramonatrails.org.
Are you interested in going horseback riding but don’t have a horse of your own? Adventures on Horseback offers an assortment of trail-riding options, including one that combines a tour of a winery with wine tasting. As Deb Schott, head cowgirl of Adventures on Horseback, says, “There’s nothing better than a horseback ride — it calms the soul and makes the heart smile!” Four different packages provide something for everyone. For details, visit bigschottranch.com.
Ramona is not only a beautiful place filled with exciting opportunities for equine fans, it is also a prime spot for those looking to get involved in something meaningful. There are several rescue and therapy locations in the area — organizations that benefit the lives of humans and horses — and they are ready for the next interested person to get involved.
With all of these fabulous options, Ramona may be considered horse-lover’s heaven! Take advantage of any of these opportunities during your next visit to the Valley of the Sun.
